As temperatures drop during the winter months, proper laser cutter antifreeze maintenance becomes essential for equipment protection. When cooling systems contain water or inadequate antifreeze, the liquid can freeze and expand at temperatures below 0°C, potentially causing pipe bursts, pump failure, and costly production downtime.
Choose specialized laser cutter antifreeze with a freezing point of -35°C or lower (-45°C recommended for northern regions). Never use tap water, automotive fluids, or mix different antifreeze brands.
Complete antifreeze replacement before temperatures consistently drop below 5°C. Replace any antifreeze older than six months to ensure optimal cooling system protection.
Disconnect the main power and allow the equipment to cool
Drain existing fluid completely from the system
Flush pipes with clean water 1-2 times
Refill with new antifreeze to the "standard" level
Test the circulation pump and check for leaks
Implement weekly laser machine maintenance checks to monitor antifreeze levels. For equipment idle longer than three days, maintain room temperature at 5°C or higher to prevent cooling system freeze protection failures.
